There were about 14 that took part in the February Membership Meeting.
- Discussed Article 101 section 3 and 4. If an employee claims that an assigned job, vehicle, or equipment is unsafe or might endanger their health, and for that reason refuses to do the job or use the vehicle or equipment, the employee shall immediately give specific reason(s) in writing to their supervisor. If something doesn't get worked out at the supervisor level, it can be moved up to HQ or file a claim with OR OSHA. Can also get help from a union steward if you don't feel comfortable discussing with manager.
- Discussed Article 86. Workload prioritization
- Let union steward or leadership know if you are having issues with safety. Are you comfortable discussing a safety problem with your supervisor?
- The agency had its first statewide safety officer meeting. This included safety officers from different worksites. Help communicate safety to HQ from field offices. Bring up concerns, exchange ideas, awareness of training for safety officers. ODFW Union President attended the meeting.
- ODFW Union President and other Agency Union Leaders met with Governor. Topics discussed- salary being priority in the next years, safety, and employee engagement survey
- Quarter check ins. Discussions at LMC about them. HR said they are being done 100%. Are employees having useful conversations during the check in? The intent for these is for employee to bring up goals, a conversation of how things are going, tasks, career opportunities. You can look up and add notes in Workday for each quarter check in.
Other topics
- It's union leadership election time. You should have received a ballot at an email that SEIU 503 has on file. Ballots are due 3/24/2026. It's ok to write in someone you think fits in the position, they will get a chance to accept/not accept after the election closes.
- March 1st paycheck should have the 2.5% COLA.
- If you're in a position that requires uniforms, dont' forget to spend your yearly allowance-Article 123.3e (July 1-June 30). Reply to this email or odfwunionsteward@gmail.com if you are having difficulties receiving approval for uniform items.
